Freelance Web Developer
- Managed and completed entire projects myself.
- Arranged and attended numerous meetings with clients to conduct requirements elicitation.
- Wrote rich web applications from scratch using a variety of languages/technologies such as PHP, MySQL, (X)HTML, CSS, JavaScript (inc. AJAX) and XML.
- Utilised a custom MVC framework in PHP and also used JavaScript libraries such as jQuery for AJAX development.
- Created valid (X)HTML and CSS and also adhered to the W3C accessibility guidelines.
- Worked with various IDEs; including NetBeans and Eclipse.
- Created impressive graphics including website designs, logos and business cards using Adobe Photoshop.
- Used Linux environments for programming and hosting web servers using the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
Awards
Myself and a partner won first place and a £150 cash prize for giving the best e-business pitch at a presentation sponsored by Accenture in the first year of my degree.Other skills
- Proficient in the use of a whole range of computer programs, aside from those mentioned previously, I am more than capable of undertaking advanced tasks in Microsoft Office 97-2007, OpenOffice, DreamWeaver, JBuilder, BlueJ and LaTeX.
- Advanced understanding of various computing operating systems, including Microsoft Windows 95-Vista, Ubuntu and Solaris.
- Basic knowledge of various other computer languages/technologies, including Lisp, *nix command line, Java Servlets, JSP and Ruby (on Rails).
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Interests
- Football: I play in an 11-a-side league with friends from university and also play in a 6-a-side league at home during breaks.
- Tenpin Bowling: I represented the university in the nationwide finals in my first year of university, where we finished 2nd overall.
- Cycling: I cycle over 60 miles a week to and from university campus.
